Report Summary:

U.S. Credit Cards-in-Force (CIF) among the Top 4 issuers jumped 12.4% year-on-year (YOY) at the end of the first quarter (1Q/17) to an estimated 265.3 million cards, compared to 258.7 million in 4Q/16, and 236.1 million for 1Q/16.

Citibank blew the other three top issuers away in the first quarter, growing four times YOY in CIF then its nearest rival, Capital One.

Chase CIF was up 10.9% YOY for 1Q/17 at 90.5 million (estimated), compared to 88.6 million in the prior quarter, and 81.6 million . . . .
